Presidential candidates and the N. H. State Senate
One of the ways presidential wannabes make deposits in the New Hampshire Favor Bank is by headlining fund-raisers on behalf of their state party's candidates. Thanks to a tip from a faithful reader, below is a list of the beneficiaries of back-to-back visits later this week from New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and former vice presidential candidate John Edwards.
Betsy DeVries (challenging Andy Martel in District 18) and Molly Kelly (challenging Tom Eaton in District 10) are perhaps the Democrats' two best bets for picking up seats in the State Senate. If the Democrats wish to regain a majority, Kathy Sgambati (District 4) and Harold Janeway (District 7) are important pieces of the puzzle, as well as Jackie Cilley in District 6, now that Republican incumbent Dick Green has been appointed executive director of the Pease Development Authority.
Senator Peter Burling sits in one of the safest Democratic districts in the state. Dave Gottesman is in a marginal Democratic district but has built a very large campaign treasury.
