CORRECTION to Rochester numbers leaves GOP barely in black
When the crack reporters at New Hampshire Public Radio are not out busting Corn Roasts, they have their eyes on the latest voter registration numbers. Eagle-eyed NHPR reporter Rebecca Kaufman noticed that Rochester was the only place where the number of registered voters dropped across the board. She called and got significantly different numbers from the Clerk's Office than were on the Secretary of State's web site. After several phone calls, the mix up was traced to the use of number of ballots cast in Rochester's Ward 5, rather than the total number of registered voters.
The correct numbers for Ward 5 are as follows:
Rochester Ward 5: 806 GOP, 799 DEM, 796 undeclared, 2401 total.
With the correct numbers from Rochester, the total number of voters registered as GOP rises to 245,916 -- just above the post-presidential primary total of 245,438. Needless to say, the corresponding 0.2 percent increase in GOP voters since winter does nothing to change the conclusions of the previous post about GOP struggles in New Hampshire.
